I.    Call Meeting to Order

Mayor Rufus Callaham called the meeting to order. All Councilmembers were present.

II.    Invocation

   Councilmember Wallace Shaw led the prayer.

III.    Pledge of Allegiance

Mayor Rufus Callaham led the Pledge of Allegiance with everyone participating.

IV.    Welcome Visitors and Guests

Mayor Rufus Callaham welcomed all visitors and guests

V.    Approval of Minutes for May 6, 2008 Meeting

  Mayor Rufus Callaham asked for a motion to accept the Minutes for

  May 6, 2008 meeting. Motion was made by Councilmember Wallace Shaw and second by Councilmember Jean Martin. Motion carried unanimously.

VI.    Ordinance #491 City Budget FY 2008-2009; Public Hearing, 2 nd and Final  Reading

Mayor Rufus Callaham declared the meeting in a public hearing. With no questions or comments Mayor Rufus Callaham closed the public hearing. City Administrator David Watson read Ordinance # 491 in its entirety. Councilmember Wallace Shaw made a motion to correct the type-o in Section II line 5; Councilmember Marion Nickles Jr. second the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Wallace Shaw stated that the minutes needed to reflect that this is the 2 nd , 3 rd and final reading of this ordinance. Councilmember Jean Martin second the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Marion Nickles Jr. made a motion to accept Ordinance # 491 as amended for the typing correction; Councilmember Wallace Shaw second the motion, Five members were in favor; one opposed-Councilmember Wendell Page, the ordinance passed by the majority vote.

VII.    Audit Proposal

  City Administrator, David Watson informed council that a Public Notice was advertised for the annual audit for year ending June 30, 2008, and to include fees for up to four years. Mr. Watson recommended Greene and Co. in the amount of $14,500.00 do this years audit. Councilmember Wallace Shaw made a motion to award a one-year contract to Greene and Co. Councilmember Jean Martin second the motion. Motion carried unanimously.

VIII.    Adjournment

  Council, with no further business, adjourned for the evening. The motion to approve adjournment was made by Councilmember Wallace Shaw and second by Councilmember Wendell Page. Motion carried unanimously.
